COVID-19: Tips on Digital Security
As the world leans towards increasing digital productivity, now more than ever, we can no longer underestimate the power of digital security! While we seek to stay safe at home, its also very important we "stay safe online".
Few days ago, I received a "Work from Home" guide via mail from Co-Creation Hub, which contained important information as regards digital security. This was timely! It hurts to hear reports of hacks and internet scam, so here are useful tips you may also want to learn about digital security:
- For individuals and organisations working from home, do you have a personal security culture that guides your work routines? Are employees fully aware of how they can exchange sensitive official content with each other? If no, you need to think about the implications.
- Activate TWO-WAY AUTHENTICATION and USE STRONG PASSWORDS to secure all your social media accounts (a combination of upper and lower case, letters and symbols), NEVER DISCLOSE PASSWORDS TO ANYONE, always LOG OUT YOUR ACCOUNT when using any external devices other than your own personal mobile devices, DON'T CLICK ON PHISHY WEBSITES and links - DON'T SHARE UNVERIFIED INFORMATION with others as well.
- Individuals and corporate organizations are not exempted when it comes to digital security. It is everyone's business to ensure their safety, and to look out for the safety of others. If you suspect a breach or anything phishy, DON'T HESITATE TO REPORT IT.
This is just a tip of an iceberg, you can reach me for additional resources, I'll be glad to share them with you. Think DIGITAL, think SECURITY!
Share with your loved ones and colleagues.
